Archers
MARCH       Thanks for getting your scores in promptly - this helps the division organisers to get the results out quickly. Tracey apologizes for the delay in getting the Recurve results out this month - but alas she can't get to her PC until 14th March - please bear with us! In the meantime we are using Googledocs to get the results up on this site as quickly as possible - Compound league is now up for viewing and there are going to be some close-run results! Happy shooting.

NOVEMBER

Ranking list and allocation to divisions now published. Scores

OCTOBER
This is the month when members should be getting the standard of their indoor shooting up to scratch, so get out there (or is it "in there?" and practice. We need your best Portsmouth score shot in October and this needs to be sent to val@virtualarchery.org.uk by 5th November.

Entries are trickling in (as usual) and we already have 10 entries in the new Barebow division; 27 in the compound; 87 in recurve and 24 in longbow so we are well on the way to another successful indoor season. If you are the only VAL member in your club, why not spread the word and get others to join the league.
I would appreciate early confirmation from existing members that they are taking part again this season.

Our claim to be an international competition has been strengthened by two archers from Thailand and one from the USA who join the 14 entries from New Zealand. Within the UK we have members in all four countries for the first time and the Channel Islands.

2009/10 Competition

Talking to archers at competitions there seems to be more than enough interest in creating a division for barebow archers. Please let the organiser know if you are interested in shooting in a barebow league.

April 2009
There have been some very close contests this year and some medal positions have been decided on most wins or where necessary highest total score from October to March (this is the only time that the October score counts and this was the deciding factor in recurve  division 11 this year). Only one recurve archer, Mike Coward, managed to win every month (in January by two golds). In recurve division 6 there seemed to be a different winner each month but Darren Cook was the most consistent coming second each month and winning by a good margin. In compound division 1 there was a close finish with three points separating the top three places

Please find attached the provisional final results for the Recurve League.Congratulations to all the 'Provisional' Division Champions.
Please let me know if there are any queries before the final results are published on the Web Site.

The results will be posted on the results page as soon as they have been validated.

Could all medal winners (ie first three places in each division) please send their postal address to val@virtualarchery.org.uk. Medals will be despatched by the end of April.

March 2009
The scores for February have now been checked and allocation of points are on the results pages.

February 2009
The scores for February are due with the target captains by 5th March. All recurve scores should be sent to val@virtualarchery.org.uk as Val is running the recurve divisions this year. Gareth has now left the league and many thanks for his help last season.

Full results on the January results page.

January 2009
HAPPY  NEW YEAR

December points on the results pages

There have been many DNS submitted this month due to illness and the festivities. I'm afraid you only get one point for a DNS. But past experience has shown that it is still possible to get into the medals and even win with one dropped month- so hope you are up to the challenge. Good Luck!

December 2008

Many thanks to all those who got their scores to the target captains in good time- it make their lives a lot easier. The longbow scores were in so early that the results have already been  e-mailed to members. You have a week to check the allocation of points and then the points are finalised and posted on the website mid-month.

November 2008

Many thanks to all those who have been collecting scores on behalf of their clubs and to individuals who submitted their scores on time. We are now busy sorting out the ranking list from which we will allocate individuals to divisions in December. Compound ranking list has been sent by e-mail by Barrie. Keep on scoring those rounds!

Membership is slightly down on last year and we have a large cohort of new members- so Welcome to the League to you all.

October 2008

I am pleased to confirm that Barrie, Gareth and Tracey have all agreed to continue as target captains and Mike (who has been with us since the beginning) is having a year off! Gareth will run the recurve divisions and be the VAL Records Officer. Barrie returns to VAL to run the Compound divisions and Tracey takes over the Longbow divisions.

Don't forget VAL needs to know if you are shooting again this year. Already we have 33 new members plus one returnee from 2006/7!

Your best scores in October must be sent to the Virtual Archery League by 5th November. Recurve scores go to Val.target@googlemail.com. Compound scores go to b.gmonk@talktalk.net. Longbow scores go to tramarllan@hotmail.com. IN ADDITION all scores also go to val@virtualarchery.org.uk

And don't forget, you have to pay to play!
